Our history

 Latvian Business Women Association (LBWA) was developed in 2003. LBWA is non governmental organization joining 39 women organizations and clubs from all over Latvia.

 

Within 6 years the Association had successfully realized many large projects:

  • International mentoring project “One Plus One” (D. Carnegie Center),
  • “Strong Woman Helps to Weak”,
  • “Open Labour Market for Women” (EQUAL),
  • “Become Stronger” (Riga City Council),
  • “Minority Women Integration in a Community” (PHARE EU Initiative ),
  • “ABC for a New Citizen” (Society Integration Foundation of Latvia),
  • “Women Integration in Economic Society” (Social Initiative Center, Switzerland),
  • “Technical Support for Latvian Business Women Association for Capacity Strengthening to Implement European Social Foundation Measures” (Society Integration Foundation of Latvia),
  • “Opportunity to Begin Their Own Business for the Women Who are under the Risk of Social Isolation” (Society Integration Foundation of Latvia),
  • Integration of Women into the Business Community (Social Initiative Center, Switzerland).

  • Project “Developing NGO Sector in Latvia with the Aim to Promote Gender Equality in Economic and Social Sphere” - now is running (2008-2010), 
  • “Latvian Business Women Association Awards 2008” (annual award)

 

Latvian Business Women Association is a member of European Women's Management Development International network (EWMD) and The Worldwide Network of Women Business Owners (FCEM). Our chairwomen Irina Petersone is the head of Latvian departments of EWMD and FCEM.
